    Digital Dermoscopy

Digital dermoscopy is a computer-based microscopic technique that greatly assists in differentiating between a harmless mole and a potentially life-threatening skin cancer.  Images are stored on a computer for future reference, where they are monitored over time for suspicious changes.  Although we occasionally find a melanoma at its earliest stage, the vast majority of patients benefit by having fewer biopsies over time.

The device used for this analysis is called the Mole Max II, which is frequently used in Europe and Australia.  Dr. Rosenbach feels it will one day increase in popularity in this country because recent medical research confirmed what he has long suspected... Tracking moles over time using stored digital images is more accurate than assessing them on a given day, especially for patients that have unusual moles.

Dr. Rosenbach was the first physician in California to employ this technology and was featured on KNBC news for his expertise in this area.
